MiMi: How many children do you have and what are their names and ages?

Deeksha: I have one three-year-old daughter named Aditi.

MiMi: What are some of the challenges you have faced as a working mom? How have you have you been able to cope with these challenges?

Deeksha: The most difficult challenge that I face, and I guess every working mom faces; is: managing time for your little one(s). In my case, since I’m a full time school teacher, and a part time blogger…my job responsibilities double up and I get very little time to spend with my girl. This thing, definitely; at times, makes me feel guilty. Secondly, sometimes I’m not able to concentrate on my work and give it a 100% which again makes me feel incompetent and
guilty. The only way to cope with these challenges is to stay strong and think practically, however; it’s easier said than done. It’s important for all of us working moms to try and balance our personal and professional lives.

MiMi: I know sometimes the day doesn’t always go as planned when you are a working, but what would a perfect day be like in your mind for you and your family?

Deeksha: A perfect day would be a day away from all stress and worries. A day I can have fun with my family without any restrictions. I would wish this day to never end.

MiMi: What activities do you like to engage in with your family when you find the time?

Deeksha: I love to play with my daughter and make her laugh when I get time. I also love playing in the water with her. We watch TV together, and shake a leg to her favorite numbers!

MiMi: If you had just 1 piece of advice to offer a mother who really finds it difficult to meet the demands of her family and work outside the home, what would it be?

Deeksha: I would suggest all working moms out there, like myself… to try to spend some good quality time with their kids as it maintains your bond with them and relieves your stress. Whenever I play with my daughter, it proves to be a great stress buster for me. I advise all moms to make the best use of the little time they get with their kids. One more thing that you should try to do is: “Never Bring Home, the Office Work!” Try to push
yourself and finish it off in the office itself, so that you get to spend as much time as possible with your kids!

MiMi: Thank you for being a part of my Working Mom Series!

Deeksha: Thanks a lot Mimi for giving me this opportunity to connect with other working moms through this interview on your blog. I loved being a part of your Working Moms Series!
